Pristine blue waters, white sand beaches, boundless mystique lurking beneath the surface. Maldives is paradise on earth.
We arrived at the Male international airport, a 4 hour plane journey from Singapore. There, we had an "ocean chauffer" awaiting our arrival to ferry us over to the island resort. Depending on where you stay in the Maldives, you take a boat or a sea plane to the resort of choice.
Arriving at the resort, we were greeted with a fresh mocktail. We were driven to the ocean-view room, sitting just above the blue waters, with a private staircase ending in the water below.

The view connecting the bathroom to the front "balcony".
It was immediate that we saw beautiful sea creatures under the wooden bridges connecting the sand to the room (sting-rays, sea turtles, reef sharks, puffer fish...). Crystal clear waters allow you to see every tiny detail below.

Jet skiing lessons.
We arrived during the time of Diwali. The resort had hosted an event with music, drinks and events on the beach at night. Moonlight gleaming onto the sand, soft glimmering light created by wooden tiki lamps. It was an amazing way to enjoy the evening, watching the sunset and enjoying music with drinks in the Maldivian ocean breeze.
Things to do (but not limited to):
- Water sports (jet-ski, stand-up paddle board, snorkeling, diving etc.)
- Massage by the ocean
- Dive with Manta rays/ Whale sharks
- Land sports: (tennis, basketball etc.)
- Feeding sting-rays by hand/ reef-sharks
- Dolphin watching
- Island hopping
- Charter a sea-plane (very expensive)
- Dinners on the/by the beach

Dolphin watching in the evening.
Things to be consider:
- Appropriate currency as money changing may be expensive at the resort
- Use protection from the sun (I turned very orange after my trip)
- Small change for tips
- Flip-flops (sand inside your socks/shoes is unpleasant)
- Not to pollute the oceans (plastic bags, cigarettes
- Be weary of monsoon season/ rainy season
- Sea creatures buried beneath the sand (sting-rays etc.)

Enjoying cocktails on your ocean-front balcony.
Overall the trip was one to remember, not to mention the kind people, untouched wilderness, no visible pollution and complete serenity. A great holiday to relax, unwind and enjoy some clean ocean breeze.

5am at the break dawn photoshoot.
